Chinese herbs improve IVF success

The use of Chinese herbs can improve the outcomes of assisted reproductive technologies, according to a Chinese study. Four hundred and thirty-three subjects (under 42 years old) with infertility due to fallopian tube or male-related factors were randomly allocated to a Chinese herb intervention group or a conventional treatment control group. All subjects received routine ovulation-promoting drug therapy, while the subjects in the intervention group also received various Chinese herbs. The findings indicated that Chinese herbs increase endometrial thickness, improved fertility and embryo quality, and promoted embryonic implantation, thus enhancing the success rate of the IVF cycle.
